Introduction to SAP Business ByDesign

Business ByDesign is an integrated suite in a box – financials, human resource management, project management plus all the other components are pre-integrated by SAP in Business ByDesign.

The integration can be extended with additional solutions from SAP – Ariba, Concur or Fieldglass – or other cloud solutions from other providers.

There are 3 categories to consider when analyzing the sell and execution of services in Business ByDesign and they are represented in the image below.

The first category is the project-based services. They are modeled around a project plan, activities are organized and scheduled, resources are added to the project, the customer is billed.

Second category is the standard service like support consulting. This is repetitive and sold daily and the efficiency and short-term billing are the key to a good execution.

The third type is the field and in-house repair. This is where the service order is the instrument of choice. The integration to logistics is important as spare-parts may need to be acquired during the service execution.
